Excited about Italy (well, wouldn’t you be?)

Auto Date Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I’m so excited about my upcoming trip to Italy. I’m one of those people that likes to get every last detail planned out- down to how much i can expect to pay for the taxi from the station to my hotel. I’m going to Taormina for most of the time I’m there and I’ll be staying at a few places, the Hotel Timeo to begin with (it came recommended).

There’s a great website about this fascinating little town- just search for ‘Taormina’- it’s the top hit on google. It’s been written by the local people, so no kind of corporate affiliation, and just has all the most interesting places to visit in the area. Turns out there are loads! All that aside though, I’m most looking forward to my first proper morning there (I should get in quite late the next day). I’m going to go exploring on foot and find my local coffee stop. Then I’m going to sit there and read my book and just soak up as much ‘Italy’ as I can. Really can’t wait.

Of course, one of the other main aims for this trip is for me to pick up some more Italian. I’ve been told on countless occasions that the only real way to learn this beautiful language is to immerse yourself in the country and try and soak it up through your very pores. Did I say I can’t wait?
