Baseball Little League

Auto Date Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Children need baseball because it helps them be able to do well with others. When you send your kids to the little league try outs, realize that if they make it, then they will become part of a team. Doing this will help them for the rest of their life. Little league has helped many kids become great leaders later in life.

The pitcher is the key position and is the leading position of the team. If the pitcher loses it, then the whole team will do bad. With a sport like tennis, it is up to one person whether you win or lose, but with baseball it is up to a whole bunch of people. So if you win in baseball, then it was not just because of you, it was because of the team. Corporations and businesses function very similar. There might be a key player who makes the most important things happen, but that is because there are many people behind the scenes helping out. In order to score runs, it takes a few people to get hits. If your kids have any interest in baseball or softball, then bring them to every single game that you can. Get involved and support your kids. Let them know how great they are and push them to do better and practice hard. These games that you play early in life have a huge impact on success later on.

How to Raise Your Kids in a Balanced Way

Auto Date Friday, June 20th, 2008

Although many everyone has their own different styles of parenting, there are 4 main styles of parenting. These four different styles are authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and than uninvolved.

Uninvolved parenting is really just a lack of parenting. It is hard on children and should not be the way of parenting. Kids suffer issues such as feelings of rejection, lack of self esteem, and issues with trust. In the long run the children are harmed emotionally.

Authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive styles describe a range of styles. Authoritarian parents are at one end of the spectrum. This kind of parenting tends to be high in structure and low in responsiveness. Permissive parents are then located at the opposite side of the scale. This parenting style tends to be low in structure and high in responsiveness. Authoritative parenting tends to be located in the middle of the scale, and is a balanced parenting style. There are many different parenting styles out there; these three represent a very wide range scale.

Structure is important to authoritative parenting. There are clear rules and limits and children know that there are consequences for their actions. Routines and schedules help provide a sense of stability for children. For example, a child knows when bedtime is, and a teen knows when curfew is, and both know what will happen if he or she is late. Stability in this sense allows children to feel secure, and that, it turn, allows for an all around better atmosphere. There is flexibility in authoritative parenting that allows the parent to bend the rules on occasion. Like if a child would like to stay up late to watch a favorite TV show.

Authoritative parents also are responsive. Children have a voice in the family and the input is value. Mom and dad respond to their children’s needs and problems and are sensitive to their children’s emotions and feelings.

In authoritative parenting, decisions are made collaboratively. Children have a choice, but only up to a certain point. Parents should listen to their input, and take into consideration what the child is saying, and feeling, but the final decision lies with the parents. These types of families function as a team, and different needs are accommodated for. This results in less conflict and more balance.

Authoritative parenting is a balanced parenting style. Structure and responsive are both high. The parents are involved with their child’s life, and are flexible, but they still are parents. There are structures, limits, rules and boundaries, but they are not rigid. Children with this kind of parenting tend to do well socially and functionally in life. They tend to not get into problems and not to have serious emotional problems. This type of parenting is balanced, and produces balanced children.

Birth

Auto Date Friday, May 16th, 2008

The birth of an infant is a wonderful process. The process takes place in stages as described below.

By nature, the male organ ejects sperms and the female organ produces eggs. Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovaries. Normally, in women who haven’t reached menopause, ovaries release an egg once a month. This is known as ovulation. This egg travels through the fallopian tube toward the uterus. When the male sperm reaches the egg in the fallopian tube, fertilization occurs. The fertilized egg continues its movement towards the uterus, implants itself in the uterine wall and begins to develop into an embryo. Embryo is the earliest manifestation of all humans. The woman becomes pregnant, and it takes nearly 9 months, that is, three trimesters of 12 weeks, for the infant to be born.

Pregnancy causes a number of changes in a woman’s body in the first trimester (0 to 12 weeks). The very first change is the absence of menstruation. Other symptoms include fatigue, nausea and vomiting and enlarging breasts. However, a woman having these symptoms isn’t necessarily pregnant. The surest way to confirm pregnancy is a pregnancy test.

In the second (weeks 13 to 24) and third trimesters (weeks 25 to delivery), a woman may experience additional symptoms including an expanding abdomen, leg cramps, heartburn and hemorrhoids. These symptoms and changes are due to pregnancy hormones and the fetal growth. Although pregnancy involves a number of symptoms and changes in a woman, there is no way to predict which symptoms a woman will experience. Each pregnancy is different, even in the same woman.

By the end of the first trimester, the fetus is about three inches long and weighs about half an ounce. By the end of the third trimester, the fetus is about 20 inches long and weighs about seven pounds.

The best person to discuss the changes and symptoms associated with pregnancy is an obstetrician. The best source for further information on pregnancy is Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Its web address is www.plannedparenthood.org.

7 Signs Your Teenager is at Risk for Violent Behavior

Auto Date Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

In the last week alone, four shootings/murders made headlines. They shared something shocking in common? The alleged offender was a teenager.

1. A teenager was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the shooting of five people at a club.

2. Sentencing for a 16-year-old boy who admitted stabbing his mother 111 times was postponed.

3. The first of four teenagers to be tried in the killing of a Chinese restaurant deliveryman was found guilty of first-degree murder.

4. A teen in a middle school shoots two classmates, but is stopped by hero teacher.

Dr. Kathryn Seifert a youth and family violence and trauma expert who has over 30 years of experience believes that a recent study sheds light on the issue of teen violence. While some behavioral (aggressive) disorders have a biological base, they may also have roots in childhood maltreatment and in exposure to violence. The overlap between behavioral disorders and histories of childhood trauma is greater than has been previously recognized, said Seifert. While not all traumatized children become aggressive, there are warning signs that can help parents determine if their child needs to get professional help.

Using recent studies, other scientific data, and 30 years of experience, Dr. Seifert has created 7 questions to determine if your teenager may be at risk of committing violent or aggressive behavior. The more questions to which you answer yes, the more likely it is that your child needs professional help. If the answer to 6 or 7 questions is ?yes?, then data shows that your teenager may be at risk of aggressive or violent behavior and needs immediate professional attention.

1. Has your child or teen witnessed or been a victim of violence?

2. Has the child in your care been abused, neglected or abandoned by a family member?

3. Has your child been cruel to animals?

4. Has your child had moderate to severe behavior problems (such as stealing, punching holes in walls, or staying out all night without permission) that began before the age of 13?

5. When your child hurts or injures someone does he feel sorry he/she got caught, rather than sorry for the harm caused to his/her victim.

6. In the past, has your child assaulted another person that was not in self-defense? (This is particularly important if it was a younger, weaker child or a parent, policeman, or teacher.)

7. Has you child had severe learning and/or behavior problems in school for more than a year?

Dr. Seifert warns that although these questions can be easily answered, their answers should not be taken lightly. Adults and caregivers need to take immediate action to seek help for families and teens that have experienced traumatic experiences. Without professional help, such as counseling from organizations like Dr. Seifert?s firm, Eastern Shore Psychological Services, many teens may never get the help they need. And without help, a troubled teenager could become the next headline. With the proper interventions, youth violence is preventable.

Dr. Kathryn Seifert has over 30 years experience in mental health, addictions, and criminal justice work. She has authored the CARE and numerous articles. Dr. Seifert has lectured internationally on youth and family violence and trauma. http://careforusall.com

Delivery Mistakes - Cerebral Palsy

Auto Date Monday, May 12th, 2008

Many experts believe that delivery mistakes lead to many cases of cerebral palsy. Sometimes, delivery mistakes are strictly because of the mother. For instance, premature deliveries have been documented as providing a greater risk of the child developing cerebral palsy. Other factors include a prolonged rupture of the amniotic membranes, slow fetal heart rate during labor, complications from umbilical cord placement and abnormal presentation of the child.

Birth mistakes that do not come from the mother are often procedural errors made by the doctors. Some of these errors have severe consequences. It is very important that the doctor ensures that the baby has enough oxygen during the delivery. If complications should arise, it is the responsibility of the doctor and the medical staff to act quickly to save the lives of both the mother and the child. Sometimes a cesarean section is required to prevent birth asphyxia a condition that often results in brain damage, cerebral palsy and sometimes death.

If your child has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy by a condition that may have been prevented, it is your responsibility to contact a lawyer immediately. Once certain delivery mistakes have been made, it is likely that they will occur again. A qualified Cerebral Palsy attorney will notify you of your legal right to receive reparations for you and your family as well as work to prevent future medical negligence.

Coed Baby Shower Planning - How Throw A Guy-friendly Baby Shower Party And Stay Creative

Auto Date Monday, April 28th, 2008

If you can, why not throw a coed baby shower and assign a male co-host for you next baby shower planning?

Not only celebrities in L.A tend to ahead of the curve when it come to trends, a famous baby site also reports that nearly half of baby showers now are coed parties.

Especially with busy soon-to-be-Moms, like business owner, company executives, and celebrities, there is often a Mr. Mom at home who expects to fully participate in the baby shower. And of course, their male buddies.

Beside, dad-to-be plays a very big role during the pregnancy and in the new baby’s life, why should you get the new mom to celebrate on her own?

Of course, hosting a coed baby shower is more than just putting the male guests on the inviting list. Some shower hostesses even worry that guys would not attend such a party where participants play games such as Round-the-Tummy.

If you could not stand the thought of seeing their bored unhappy faces, my suggestion is to ask one of them to give you a hand.

In fact, the male co-host can provide big help from choosing the stylish color invitation, to picking up the dad-friendly baby shower ideas and games, and guiding the men to check gift registry as they often don’t know what to buy for the baby-to-come.

The best co-host candidate: the soon-to-be-grandpa or any male guest who has the experiences of baby shower or the pregnancy process.

What if you’re pulling you hair out but still have no clue on how to entertain the guys? I suggest you learn from your past party experiences.

As someone once said, “The best way to have a great idea is to have a lot of good ideas.” It works the same way to find unique baby shower ideas.

Lots of baby shower hostesses don’t realize that the most creative baby shower ideas lie somewhere deep in their mind. They just don’t know it.

I mean, we’ve all spent hours coming up with birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, and even holidays like Halloween and Christmas. Once the party is over, however, all that energy and all those ideas usually just dwindle away.

Think about this: If you can get out the party photos somehow find their way into a forgotten folder on your computer’s hard drive or hidden inside a photo album somewhere, you can simply put an end to all the wasting of your time.

4d baby scans - www.babyultrasound.co.uk

Auto Date Thursday, April 17th, 2008

The method know as 3d ultrasound is used during early pregnancy, it can provide 3d pictures of the unborn baby. Most times these images are quickly collected and combined to make a “4d ultrasound”.

Three dimensional scanning works in a similar manner to the traditional ultrasound except that the ultrasound scanning waves are sent from many directions. The ultrasound pulses are redirected back then captured to provide info to construct a 3d image in much the same way as 3d pictures. 3 dimesional ultasound scanning was devised by olaf ramm and stephen smith.

It’s important to understand that sonologists all over the world have always conjured 3d images of anatomy or pathology in their minds while carrying out 2d scans. However, until recently it was very difficult to do this kind of reconstruction on on info using ultrasound. With the advent of ultrasound baby scans for the first time allowed us a view into the brain of a sonologist and so letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

4d ultrasound imaging should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. There is no data to suggest any harm due to 3d ultasound scanning, its use in none essential situations should be undertaken with an understanding of the risks that exist.
